Festival season is here and there are several black book events happening this summer. Black lit events, are a great way to meet some of your favorite authors, and maybe introduce you to new authors that you haven’t heard of. Black Writers Weekend & the AAMBC Literary Awards Show

The 10th Annual Black Writers Weekend is being held in Atlanta, GA June 7-9, 2019. Black Writers Weekend is the largest gathering for literary creatives and filmmakers. The weekend long gathering will host events like, the AAMBC Literary Awards, Cre8tiveCon, a Lit Crawl, Urban Book Bash, book signings, and several other lit events. The Bronx Book Festival

The 2019 Bronx Book Festival will be held June 8, 2019 at the Fordham Plaza & Fordham University. The 2nd annual event is also known as #thebronxisreading. The Book Boutique Grand Opening Expansion Celebration

The Book Boutique Bookstore is hosting a Grand Opening “Expansion Celebration”, to celebrate their move into a bigger and better store location. The celebration event will be held June 8, 2019 at the store’s new location in Lithonia, GA. In addition to food, books, and live entertainment, there will also be a mass author signing. Authors K’Wan, Zane, Teri Woods, and more will all be in the building.

Austin African American Book Festival 

The 2019 Austin African American Book Festival is in its 13th year. This year’s event will be held June 22, 2019 at the Carver Library and Museum. The Schomburg Center Literary Festival

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (a part of the NYPL library system), will host their first literary festival this June. The Schomburg Center Literary Festival will be held June 29, 2019, with events being held in the center itself, and also an outdoor festival being held on 135th Street.
