Mark your calendars! We compiled a list of 5 of the hottest lit events happening this summer, in the African-American and Urban Fiction genre. Most of these events are annual, and each year they grow in size.

These book events are the perfect way to meet, and connect with some of your favorite authors, as well as some new authors. Be sure to save these events in your calendar, and plan a trip to attend a book event this summer!

1. AAMBC Literary Awards Weekend

The 10th Annual AAMBC Literary Awards Show Weekend is happening this coming June. The annual weekend event, has various lit events leading up and following the biggest event of the weekend, the awards show. This year’s honorees are Wahida Clark and Ashley & JaQuavis. This year’s event is being held June 7-10, in Atlanta, GA. Be sure to purchase tickets to some of the other events happening this weekend, like the Urban Book Bash, the first Annual CreativeCon, and the Books & Brunch event. 2. Go On Girl Bookclub Awards

Go On Girl Book Club is hosting their 26th Annual Awards Event in Indianapolis, IN this year. The awards weekend is being held June 1-3. Be sure to grab your tickets to the awards dinner, the author book signing and more lit events happening this weekend. 3. National Bookclub Conference

The National Bookclub Conference, also known as Literary Bliss, is being held August 3-5, 2018. Celebrating its 16th year, the annual event will be hosted at the InterContinental hotel in Atlanta, GA. This gathering hosts one of the largest bookclub meetings in the country. The book being featured at this year’s event is, Jenifer Lewis’ memoir, The Mother of Black Hollywood. Other featured authors include, Carl Weber, Mary B. Morrison, Tiffany L. 4. Detroit Hustle and Grind Book Fair

Black Bookstore, Hood Book Headquarters, is hosting a huge book fair next month. The Hustle and Grind Book Fair will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018. This event is being held in Detroit, MI. Hood Book Headquarters Bookstore is known for hosting intimate author signing events with some of the biggest names in Urban Fiction. This is a great event to be around tons of Urban Fiction authors and have some of your favorite books signed. Featured authors include K’Wan, Brenda Hampton, Amaleka McCall, C.N. 5. Atlanta African-American Book Expo

The Atlanta African American Book Expo is being held June 8-10, 2018. The literary weekend is being hosted in Downtown Atlanta. The expo weekend will feature various lit events and will offer many opportunities to  meet with authors. Be sure to grab tickets to events like the Books and Bottles (Mimosa) Breakfast, an All White Party and also a sneak peek of new bookstore, Book Boutique (opening this fall) during an official Celebration Day Party to honor author LaJill Hunt.
